Why we design balconies first

The balcony decides how a home feels at seven in the evening. So we draw it before the facade.

Why we design balconies first

Outdoor space is a room

A balcony narrower than 1.6 metres holds a plant and a drying rack. At 2 metres it holds a table for four, and that changes how a family uses the home all summer.

Every Corbel apartment starts with its outdoor room: its depth, its orientation and how much of it the neighbours can see.

Shade, then glass

Deep balconies also shade the glass behind them. At The Linden, that lets us use floor-to-ceiling windows without overheating the living rooms.
